As Mumbai Indians take on Kings XI Punjab in a crucial IPL match in Mumbai later today, the team management will keep a close watch on the fitness of veteran all-rounder Shaun Pollock, who is down with back strain.

Skipper Sachin Tendulkar has said Pollock's fitness will be assessed on match day as his selection is vital for the team's cause.

Pollock missed Mumbai's previous match against Deccan Chargers, but his team won the match comfortably. However, Pollock's presence for Wednesday's tie is vital as a win against Punjab will virtually seal their place in the semi-final.

Mumbai will also miss West Indian Dwayne Bravo, who has retured for national duty against Australia. The Ambani franchise, have bolstered their pace attack by summoning Andre Nel from South Africa and have also ensured that another West Indian in Dwayne Smith would be available for selection.
