We Can’t Recommend Players To Tour Pakistan, Says Paul Marsh, Head Of The Australian Cricketers Association
Australian players have made it clear they would not travel to Pakistan for next month’s Champions Trophy citing security threat and now even England players seem to follow suit.
Paul Marsh, the head of the Australian Cricketers Association, believes that there is danger to life of cricketers and the threat posed by suicide bombers cannot be discounted.
“Our position is that we can't recommend the players tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Obviously, we put a position forward a few weeks ago (to the ICC) to that effect but we said we would keep an open mind with the taskforce, which we did. We heard them speak on Friday. Now we have had a chance to digest it, our position hasn't changed,” The Independent quoted Marsh, as saying.
Even New Zealand's player's union representative Heath Mills has expressed similar views and players in England are keen to follow Australia’s example.
