Western Australia’s Shaun Marsh made his IPL debut on a winning note as his unbeaten 85 off 62 balls guided Kings XI Punjab to a grand seven wicket win over Deccan Chargers at Hyderabad on Thursday.

Punjab, who were chasing 165 for victory, won with seven balls to spare.

Shaun is the son of former Australian opener Geoff Marsh and was quite brilliant in his performance as he slammed 11 boundaries and a six off Nuwan Zoysa.

Earlier, Hyderabad were rescued by Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 42-ball 76 which enabled the hosts to post 164 for eight despite a middle and lower order collapse.

Punjab elected to field first.
