Bangalore Royal Challengers pulled off a stunning three-run win over Deccan Chargers Hyderabad to register their maiden victory in the Indian Premier League at Bangalore today.

Bangalore set Hyderabad's Deccan Chargers 157 for victory, but found the visitors managing only 153 for 6 during their reply.

Hyderabad seemed well on course for a victory when skipper VVS Laxman (52) and Rohit Sharma (57) were going great guns. But once Laxman departed in the 18th over, Bangalore sniffed a win and grabbed it with both hands.

Praveen Kumar was the star performer for Bangalore as he claimed three wickets.

Earlier, Hyderabad elected to field first as they managed to remove Bangalore's B Chipli early for 10. R P Singh provided the breakthrough.

Opener Wasim Jaffer, who top-scored with 44, added 72 for the second wicket with young Virat Kohli (38) as the hosts looked set for a big total at 85 for 1, before Jaffer departed six short of a well-deserved fifty.

Hyderabad then pulled things back and triggered a slump in the Bangalore innings as they slipped to 111 for 5 in the 15th over and eventually ended up with 156 for 8.
