England opening batsman Alastair Cook suffered a suspected dislocation of his right little finger on the first day of Essex's three-day game against the touring New Zealand at Chelmsford.
Cook hurt himself while attempting to catch Daniel Vettori at gully off Ryan ten Doeschate, but dropped the Kiwi skipper. Cook was taken to hospital for an X-ray and is expected to bat tomorrow and also play in the first Test against New Zealand May 15.
Meanwhile, Ten Doeschate, who claimed 5-57, made New Zealand struggle as their innings was revived by Justin Marshall's 128 as they reached 348-9 at stumps.
