Sanath Jayasuriya's One-Day International Future For Sri Lanka Appears To Be In A Limbo
Veteran Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya's central contract may not get renewed as the national selectors are looking to offer him only short-term deals for future tours.
Jayasuriya was not picked for the one-day tour to the West Indies and his retirement from Test cricket last December, has now put a question mark over his future with Sri Lankan team.
As per reports in Lankan daily the Daily Mirror, Jayasuriya's contract will not be renewed.
Jayasuriya was one of six players alongside Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas and Marvan Atapattu, who until last year was on a grade A contract.
But the fact that Atapattu has retired and joined ICL and Jayasuriya not in the one-day scheme of things right now, his career appears in a limbo.
Jayasuriya will however be appearing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premeir League from April18 to June 1.
