Pakistan Batsman Yousuf Upset At Not Being Allowed To Play In IPL

Pakistan batsman Md Yousuf has blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board and IPL organisers for not allowing him to play in the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament.

Yousuf was also on the receiving end of selection when he was dropped again from the Pakistan Twenty20 squad for the match against Bangladesh on Sunday.

He faced similar treatment after suffering the team's early exit from the World Cup last year.

"I am keen to play in the IPL because I want to prove to everyone I am as good a batsman in Twenty20 cricket as in any other form of the game. Why should my age be a hindrance to my playing Twenty20 cricket," Yousuf was quoted as saying to PTI.

"When I have been consistent in one-day internationals I can do the same in Twenty20 cricket," the prolific Test batsman said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik said that the decision to axe Yousuf was entirely of the selectors.

"There is no hanky panky involved in Yousuf being rested for Twenty20 cricket. The team is like a family and there is no question of anyone being angry or upset because he is not playing in a match," Malik said.
