New Zealand In Good Stead Ahead Of Lord’s Test, Says Stand-In Skipper Brendon McCullum
New Zealand’s stand-in skipper Brendon McCullum is satisfied with his team’s preparations for the first Test against England at Lord’s.
McCullum, who is deputising for the injured Daniel Vettori is happy that his team is in good stead ahead of the first Test.
A draw against the England Lions was New Zealand’s previous achievement ahead of Thursday’s opening Test.
The Kiwis beat Essex by 92 runs and were held in a rain-affected draw with Kent.
“I think this was a thorough workout leading into the Test match,” McCullum was quoted as saying to sportal.co.nz.
“I think we got through some pretty sound work for the bowlers and the batsmen really put their hands up and took their opportunities.
“Hopefully we lead into the Test match with some real confidence after this display,” he added.
