Sohair Tanvir’s Six-Wicket Burst Guides Rajasthan To The Top Of IPL
Sohail Tanveer’s six-wicket burst guided Rajasthan Royals to a comprehensive eight wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League match in Jaipur on Sunday. The victory pushed Rajasthan to the top of the table.
Rajasthan, who were chasing a modest 110 for victory, reached the target losing just 2 wickets and with 5.4 overs (34 balls) to spare.
This was Rajasthan’s fifth consecutive victory under Shane Warne after their opening loss to Delhi.
For Chennai, the defeat was their second in succession as they had won their first four matches before losing against Delhi before Sunday’s loss.
The Rajasthan chase was set up by South African captain Graeme Smith, who scored 35 not out and by Goa’s Swapnil Asnodkar, who scored 32, as the two added 78 runs for the opening wicket to seal a comprehensive win.
Earlier, Pakistani left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir captured 6 for 14 off his 4 overs to produce the best-ever figures in any form of Twenty20 cricket as his spell reduced the Chennai team to 109. He bagged the man of the match award and also took two catches to back his superb spell of bowling.
