India Put Into Bat By South Africa In The ICC U-19 World Cup Final In Kuala Lumpur

South Africa decide to bowl first against India in the ICC Under 19 World Cup final at the Kinrara Cricket Academy ground, Kuala Lumpur today.

The wicket used at the KCA ground is a fresh one and the Proteas colts have decided to make the best use of a new pitch.

The weatherman from Malaysia says that it may rain later in the evening and the match being a day/night affair, the South Africans might be hoping that the D/L method might just come to their assistance.

However, going by what happened in the semi-final, where the South Africans batted first and put a solid score of 260 on the board and then won the match against Pakistan, it might just surprise the pundits about Proteas' decision to field first.

One would have imagined that when it comes down to a crunch match like a World Cup final, chasing under pressure isn't the right ploy.

Well, India, winners of the 2000 edition, will now be hoping to get their act right and post a huge total to give the South Africans a run for their money.

India U-19 skipper Virat Kohli mined no words when he said he would have decided to bat first had he won the toss.

Meanwhile, India won the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2000 when they beat hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo. South Africa, who reached the finals of 2002 edition lost to Australia in New Zealand.
