Sri Lanka Win Has Lifted Team Spirit And Morale, Says West Indies Coach John Dyson

West Indies coach John Dyson is delighted that his team's morale and spirits, which had dipped down after the series loss in South Africa, have once again picked up after the series-levelling victory against Sri Lanka in Port of Spain.

Dyson disclosed that there was a lot of negativity surrounding the team when he took over as coach, but things have turned around since the win in Port of Spain against the Sri Lankans.

The Australian revealed that he talked to players and livened up their training sessions to bring about the tranformation.

"What I have tried to do is create an environment, in terms of practice and everything we do, where some enjoyment has been put back into it," Dyson was quoted as saying to Reuters.

"I've tried to talk to them individually and reach them down at that level first," the ex-Sri Lanka coach said.

Even skipper Chris Gayle seems to have acknowledged that the players were enjoying the new regime.

"I enjoy working with him, it is a bit of fun as well, sometimes you do get a chance to laugh," Gayle added.

"Communication-wise it's very good. I've seen a lot of improvement, guys are a bit more free, I've seen guys talking a bit more which never used to happen, guys open up now which is really good. You can actually discuss cricket and they can discuss whatever matter they have which is very good," Gayle said.
