Sri Lanka Drop Jayasuriya, Muralitharan From Windies ODI Series From April 10 In The Caribbean
Sri Lanka have dropped veterans Sanath Jayasuriya and Muttiah Muralitharan for the forthcoming one-day international series in the West Indies from April 10.
Jayasuriya, 37, and Murali, 35, haven't been at their best in the recent Commonwealth Bank tri-series in Australia. Jayasuriya had already quit Test cricket last December but was planning to prolong his one-day career.
Murali is known to have decided only to play in important ODIs and will play in the two-Test series which precedes the one-dayers in the West Indies.
Mahela Udawatte and Ajantha Mendis will replace the two veterans while fast bowler Lasith Malinga also misses the series because of a knee injury.
Sri Lanka one-day squad: M Jayawardene (captain), K Sangakkara, T Dilshan, C Vaas, C Silva, U Tharanga, C Kapugedera, M Bandara, K Weeraratne, N Kulasekara, A Mendis, J Mubarak, I Amerasinghe, M Udawatte, T Thushara.
